We studied the Letter L a few weeks ago while in Hendersonville...here is what we did!
Lemon and Lime taste test. Blindfolded, Isabel had to taste each citrus and decide whether it was a lemon or a lime...we should have had video for this, because the faces she made were priceless!
Building with Legos!
She got to put on lipstick and admire her lips!
The Letter L was made out of lips (she kissed the paper).
We caught lightning bugs and used them as a lantern when she went to sleep! She loved this one.
We did a long versus short worksheet...which was too easy for her.
We visited Looking Glass Falls.
Wonder what she's holding in her hand???
Snail Friend!!!
We ate licorice!
She read several library books that were L themed.
She did some coloring pages and tracing sheets. L is a very easy letter for her to write.
She and Grammy put together a leaf collection!

Silly Dress Up Time Pics
Silly Dress Up Time with Mommy and Kee Kee. Surprisingly this is while she has the stinkin' Hand Foot & Mouth virus....but minus the fever, so she acted completely normal and playful.
Wilco, her new favorite friend.
Uncle Matt got a kitty named Wilco for his birthday and Isabel is so in LOVE!
Luckily, Wilco seems to love her too!
Well, maybe not so much...
You can tell Uncle Matt was worried!
But Wilco was A-Okay!
Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease
Yes, she got it. And it's not the same as Hoof & Mouth that cows get...so don't panic!
It's apparently a pretty common childhood disease that I think she likely picked up last Monday at a bounce house play place.
Thursday she had a sore throat and not far into the day threw up (all in the car!), fever of 102, chills. Next day she acted better but then fever again, very sore throat and the rash broke out on the inside of her cheeks, lower lip, hands and feet. She did complain a bit about foods being "spicy" from the ulcers in her mouth....so we've been keeping her diet very soft, smooth and acid free (as in no OJ or tomato sauce)!
This virus made us miss out on half a class about fish at the NC State Wildlife Center, a dear friend's birthday party, a Mom and daughter swimming lesson, and the week of summer camp at which she was supposed to go catching salamanders in the creek! :( Bad, bad HF&M Disease!

These dots turned into ulcers within 2 days. (And yes, I washed my hands after touching her lip!)
Hard to see the dots, but they are there....the rash wasn't too bad.
I never could get a great shot of how awful the inside of her mouth was. Very worst was on back of throat and tonsils on Day 3.
Today is Day 5 and we have had fever (max of 102.7) every day except for today...waiting to see what happens, but she is feeling very good and playful, etc. It's hard to believe that she is highly contagious.

Problem and Solution.
Problem:
Solution (per our 4 year old): We can take an elephant on one side of a see-saw and put the truck on the other side of the see-saw and then the elephant can step down with it's foot and the truck will come right out!
Daddy: Do you know anyone who would let us borrow an elephant?

Happy Father's Day!
Went to Mass and then took some Father's Day pictures!
Opening some presents!
Grandpa G got a homemade coaster too!
We found the cool homemade coaster idea off one of my favorite cool things to do blogs! This was such a fun and easy craft idea and we could have made dozens of these it was so entertaining! Isabel was compelled to add glitter to the creation, so ours are glitter coasters!
Here are some pics a few weeks prior as we made them:

Sacred Heart of Jesus!
On Friday June 11th, we celebrated the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by attending Mass and consecrating our family to the Jesus' through His Sacred Heart.
Isabel and I prepared by making these tie-dyed Sacred Heart shirts that we found at Catholic Icing.
Oh yes, and she wore this giant flashing heart necklace to church as well! Lovely! But I couldn't talk her out of it since she thought it was very appropriate for the occasion!
Here is a link to learn about the Sacred Heart (yes, I know it is the wicked wikipedia!)

Letter K
K is for Kabobs!
Homemade kazoos!
K is for Ketchup!
Isabel loves to stick stickers so we did a sticker sheet of kangaroos and kittens!
We came up with a lot of K words on our chalkboard!
She made her letter K this week out of torn Kleenex (thanks to Rob for the idea!)
We learned about Blessed Kateri Tekawitha, a native american indian the Catholic church honors.
We gave lots of kisses :)

Putting her to work!
Nothing like child labor!....Okay, seriously that is just a joke!
Yesterday before it got too muggy to be outside, I set up a washing station for Isabel. We gathered up all her baby dolls' clothes and she handwashed and rinsed them, and then pinned them up on my makeshift (read: piece of twine tied between 2 chairs) clothesline. She loved getting to use the clothespins. The only problem she had was remembering to squeeze out the drips after she rinsed them (she would take the sopping wet clothes straight to the clothesline)!
After she was done with that, I asked her if she wanted to wash dishes and she was eager to continue with washing! So I gathered up a bunch of her plastic play dishes and utensils and brought them out. Those got to dry on a bamboo drying rack....and she thought that was pretty fun too.
We left the clothes out to dry and there was not a problem the ENTIRE DAY until we left to go to a birthday party. When we returned, devil dog Greta had torn down the clothesline and shredded three baby outfits!!!
Guess who had a mad face??? Me!
