It's hard to believe I had a baby 7 weeks ago this past Tuesday. But here's the proof!

Strawberry Picking Fun?
Tuesday morning started out with the best of intentions. We were going to our LOCAL (ie., 5 minutes away) strawberry patch to pick the last of the season's berries. Until I discovered 10 minutes before we were to leave that the berries had all been picked 3 days prior and they were closed.
Bad news. Especially since I had already told Isabel that was our plan for the day.
I thought I would cry. But Rob saved the day by finding a list of local strawberry patches and calling them all until he found one that still had berries and was open!...well, like 20 miles away.
We decided to try another one that was closer first. Bad move. They were out. Now the baby is screaming in the car and we are turning around to drive the 20...now 25 miles to the next patch.
"This is a disaster", I said outloud as I climb into the backseat next to the screaming baby.
I have to add here that Robert doesn't get stressed out or upset by these things...he takes everything in stride.
Meanwhile the following is my train of thought:
"Ian falls asleep....great...now he'll wake up just in time to get there and there is no way he will be still in the baby wrap carrier....what was I thinking?"
We get to the patch and you can tell I'm happy it's open, happy there are people there and berries to pick... well, okay, you can't tell from these pics...
In these pics, I'm still worried Ian will wake up and start screaming, struggling to get him in the carrier, and wondering why I didn't put sunblock on Isabel.
We take a picture with Isabel in the giant strawberry....of course it's aimed so that she is looking square into the sun....so she can barely open her eyes.
Then we start picking. Rob's smile says "Isn't this fun?? I told you there was no need to stress about picking berries, or about what Ian would do...just relax and have fun!" And by that time, I was! Because Ian slept like...well, like a baby in the Moby wrap. I had to keep peeking at him to make sure he was still breathing. He didn't even mind when I bent over to pick berries...and pick we did!
Of course we ate some too. Isabel ate alot! I tried to take some cute pictures of her...but this was one of those days that a "good" picture was just not going to happen. So instead we got blooper pics.
Except for this one:
And this one was pretty cute too....you just had to see how hard he slept during the strawberry picking escapade.
And the fruit of our labor???
Delicious!!!!

Toad Day!
We are getting some school work done here and there ;) Today was Toad Day. We learned about frogs and toads, and the day started with a Toad Race. Isabel had caught three toads the night prior and we attempted to race them in the morning. I stuck a sticker on each toad to identify them, but in the end, only "M" stuck. ***Please be advised: No Toads were harmed in the making of this day's activities***
Isabel got to race as well...by hopping! She beat Daddy by 7 seconds! And we did some educational activities too! Did you know that toads lay their eggs in a string while frogs lay their eggs in a clump? I found a clever bead activity that demonstrated the egg laying differences between the two. Who knew learning could be so much fun? ;) Luckily she has a mom who doesn't mind amphibians!

Rewind!!! Isabel's 5th Birthday!
Here are pictures from Isabel's 5th Birthday! We took her to Chuck E. Cheese with just our family members this year...it was too much for me to throw a "kid party" this year while adjusting to life with a newborn! She had a wonderful time: ate pizza, played games, earned tokens, ate cake, opened presents and just had alot of fun with her relatives! But of course, she got to have heart pancakes for her birthday breakfast!
Happy Birthday Sweet Girl! Mommy and Daddy love you so much! We are so very happy you were born 5 years ago!
(Above) Standing next to her new lizard's cage...she was very excited that after 2 years she FINALLY got a pet lizard....Note to other parents: Be careful when making promises...they ALWAYS remember.

Some May Pics!
Ian at 4 weeks...
Playtime in Isabel's room....we have to catch a few minutes of dollhouse time playing with Mommy while Ian sleeps or is cooperating in the bouncy seat!!
And of course, hanging out with Lizzie, Isabel's new pet leopard gecko!

Back to School!
Alright...this week (Week 4 since Ian has been born) we are getting into a routine ;) and getting back to homeschooling! Our 4 week + hiatus is over...Isabel needs something to do!
So today we got alot done! Even with a crying, nursing, poopy newborn!
Unfortunately, I only got 3 pictures...I only have so many hands.
Here is Isabel doing some lizard and dice math ;) She rolls the dice, counts up the number, finds the number, then counts out that number of lizards. It was in honor of her pet lizard that she got for her birthday.
And how did we really accomplish this???
