Holy Week 2010

This past week was Holy Week and we did not do a letter or sound of the week since Isabel and I had both been really sick.  So we just stuck with talking about the events of the week, why it was important and how it led up to Easter.

We also started putting our garden together.  First step:  Buy some seeds and paint some rocks to be our crop markers!

Isabel loved this as she just adores painting anything, and we had mixing colors again to make purple and orange.

Wednesday she had an Easter egg hunt at school.  Each child was allowed to collect 6 eggs.  The teacher explained the "rules" and then told them to "go" and all the kids ran off to find their eggs except you-know-who.  With a little encouragement she started walking to find some and surprisingly, she found her 6 eggs right in the first few feet (because all the other kids raced past them to find eggs further out)!  So she didn't miss out at all and was happy to have collected these.

We made a Last Supper craft that I found here for Holy Thursday and Isabel really liked doing this one.  In fact she really surprised me because I thought it would be a little too advanced (glueing all the people onto the egg carton in the right order) but she went right along with it and did a great job!  We talked about some of the apostles like Judas and Peter (particularly these two because Judas was holding a bag of money and Peter was holding a sword, so she wanted to know about them).

I'll continue the next post with Dying Easter eggs, some Easter "worksheets" she enjoyed doing, a couple pictures from Easter Day and the "squib".
